Anthony D. Miree Edwards Obituary

Anthony Dewayne Edwards Miree was born on March 26, 1952, to the late Eddie J. Edwards and Mrs. Eunice Miree and raised by stepfather, the late Ralph Miree. He departed his earthly life on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at NHC Healthcare, surrounded with love by his family.


Anthony, also known as “Ping” was a graduate of Howard High School Class of 1971. He was a member of the Imperial Knights. Wayne was an entrepreneur who worked as a builder. He helped to build the first playground at the Bethlehem Center-Southside of Chattanooga.


Ping left Chattanooga after graduating from high school and moved to New York City, where he met his beloved wife, Anna Lee Edwards.


Anthony was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Edwards; father, Eddie J. Edwards and stepfather, Ralph Miree; grandparents, George and Linnie Ransom and most recently his mother, Eunice Miree, who passed away August 1, 2024.


He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons, Antonio (Brandie) Edwards, Angelo Edwards, and Anthony Edwards, all of Chattanooga, TN; one daughter, Adeline Dunn, New York City; two sisters, Sandra Faye Miree and Belinda (Lonnie) Savage, both of Chattanooga, TN; fourteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a host of aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; special friend, Joann Wilkerson.


Public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM, Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the funeral home.


A 1:00 PM funeral service will be held, Thursday, August 8, 2024, in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
