Gloria Patricia Bailey was born on April 12th, 1949, to Patrick and Vernice Mendes. She spent her childhood attending NYC public schools and eventually graduated from Wingate High School. Following high school, Gloria pursued further education at Northwest Bible College in North Dakota, where she deepened her Christian faith. Eventually, she attended nursing school in Brooklyn, NY, leading to her becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Gloria's professional career began at Kings County Hospital, where she honed her nursing skills. She then moved on to work at various healthcare facilities, including the Salvation Army Residence, Bellevue Hospital, Rikers Island, and several nursing homes. Gloria's dedication and commitment to providing quality care to her patients earned her a reputation as a compassionate and skilled nurse.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Gloria was deeply rooted in her Christian faith. She had a personal relationship with God and was actively involved in various church communities, including C.A.L.M and Agape. Gloria's faith was a central aspect of her life, and she was known for her fervent prayers and unwavering devotion to the Lord.
Gloria was married to Jason Bailey (deceased) in 1971, with whom she had three children: Keith (deceased), Wanda, and Tracy. Despite facing personal challenges and tragedies, Gloria remained resilient and dedicated to her family. She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her two daughters Wanda Bailey and Tracy David, nine grandkids, Shanicia Bailey, Elaine Bagot, Destiny Grant, Shadae Bagot, Ackeim Hall, Emmanuel McGarrell, Aniya Bailey, Jason David and Akeel Bailey, two great-grands Alexandria Bailey and Bian Jean-Louis, her sister Vanessa Hudson and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ who continue to carry on her values and teachings.
Gloria's life story serves as a testament to the power of faith, perseverance, and dedication to one's professional calling. Her journey from humble beginnings to becoming a respected nurse and a pillar of her community is an inspiration to many. Gloria's impact extends beyond the walls of the healthcare facilities she worked in; she touched the lives of countless individuals through her kindness, compassion, unwavering faith, infectious smile and laughter that can be heard from miles away.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, July 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 5 p.m.
