Mr. Raymond Parks Steele, age 88, husband of Lula Belle Steele, died Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Raymond was born on February 1st,1936 in Wilkesboro, NC to Ivey and Carrie Lou Minton Steele.
Raymond owned Steele’s Amoco in Hiddenite and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed attending fiddler’s conventions, watching his granddaughter’s clogging competitions, listening to bluegrass music, spending time with his great grandchildren, and piddling in his garage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles Robert (Bobby) Steele of Zionville and Ivey Steele, Jr. of Athens, GA and his sister Evelyn Marie Steele Taylor of Wilkesboro, NC.
He is survived by his wife Lula Belle Steele; two daughters Gail Poteat (Jerry) of Granite Falls, NC and Linda Church (Bill) of Lincolnton, NC; one granddaughter Heather Vassey (Clay) of Seneca, SC; and three great grandchildren Hudson (8), Gunnar(4), and Mackechney (2).
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2024 in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Hiddenite Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.
