Michael J. Kirby, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Susan M. Kirby (Larose) for over 50 years. Born in Providence, Michael was the beloved son of the late Daniel and Katherine Kirby (Mcgee). In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his loving daughters Kerri A. Kramer (Kevin) and Michelle Kirby Chapman (Jeremy); his grandchildren Kasen Kramer and Kelly Chapman; and by his siblings Daniel Kirby, Kathleen Gage, John Kirby, Patrick Kirby and Maryellen Vittum: and His very loved dog Tewey. He is predeceased by his beloved daughter Kelly S. Kirby.
A lifelong resident of Rhode Island, Michael honorably served his nation during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Warwick Veterans High School, where he met his wife Susan, and was employed at both Kenny Manufacturing Co. and Toys “R” Us for many years. The ocean was a special place to him, whether it be at the beach or on a cruise. Above all, Michael loved and cherished his friends and family. That is where you would find him happiest, whether a family cookout or the holidays, his smile was always brightest in their presence.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, July 25, 2024, in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, RI. Michael’s funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 26, 2024 in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich, RI.
