Mrs. Debra Joyce Owen, 67, beloved wife of William Jasper Owen III, gained her eternal heavenly wings on July 16, 2024. She was welcomed at the gates of Heaven by her parents, Harold Heath and Opal Seymour Heath, her grandparents, Sarah and Geddings Heath, Virgil Seymour, and Mary Elizabeth Bryant, her sister-in-law, Karen Glenn, her brother-in-law, Larry Ledford, and her nephew, Jonathan Ledford.
Born in Aiken, SC on January 31, 1957, she grew up in New Ellenton, SC, and eventually settled in Jackson, SC after marrying the love of her life, Billy Owen, in 1982. Together, they would spend the next 42 years of their lives surrounded by the people they loved and celebrating many achievements; the proudest of those being raising their son, William Jasper Owen IV.
There were many things that she enjoyed. She loved fishing and being surrounded by all the beauty that God created. She loved going on rides and taking trips to different places with her family. She never met a stranger, and she instantly connected with everyone she met. She had her own special way of expressing herself with words, and always said she would write a book someday full of her own “Debraisms”. Above all else, she loved God, she loved people, and she loved her family.
Debra’s life was a testament to her strong faith in God and her unwavering compassion for others. She was steadfast in both her praise and her prayers and was an active member of Souls Harvest Church of God. She always encouraged others to join her in worship. Family meant so much to her. Because of this, she was quick to claim many as her own children and grandchildren.
She will be loved and remembered by everyone she met. Her legacy will live on through her loving husband, Billy Owen, her son and his wife, William and Amanda Owen, her bonus son, Chip Williams, her sister and her husband, Christine and Michael McManus, her sister Patricia Ledford, her brother and his wife, Randy and Barbara Heath, her brother-in-law and his wife, Scott and Mary Owen, her brother-in-law, Gerry Glenn, her nephews, Chad (Gail) Heath, Shaun Heath, Adam Ledford, and Robbie (Jana) Glenn, her nieces, Jessica (Patrick) McGee, Samantha McManus, Tabitha Ledford, Alexandra Owen, Maddie (Aaron) Owen, Emma Owen, and her bonus grandchildren Heath, Liam, and Harrison McGee, and Addison and Maggie Lewis. Additionally, she will be greatly missed by many great nephews and nieces, Evan Ledford, Christopher Heath, Ricki Lynn Bufford and family, Hailey Moseley and family, Raegan Glenn, Chloe Seigler, Zoey Barber, and Blake Owen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Souls Harvest Church of God located at 18699 Atomic Rd, Jackson, SC 29831.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor Debra’s love for her church community by making donations to Souls Harvest Church of God.
