Agnes "Aggie" Pauline Slider Obituary

Cumberland, MD-Agnes “Aggie” Pauline Slider, 84, of Cumberland, MD passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Devlin Manor Health Care Center after a 5 year battle with dementia.


Born April 15, 1940 in Cumberland, MD, Ms. Slider was the daughter of the late Louis Wentling and Gertrude Mary (Stegmaier) Wentling. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years: Ronald “Ronnie” Slider; a daughter: Robin Lynn Slider; and her brothers: Bernard Wentling, Lawrence Wentling, and Marcellus Wentling.


Agnes graduated from Oldtown High School Class of 1958 and also graduated from Catherman’s Business School. She was a former employee of the FBI and Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and retired from the Allegany County Health Department with 26 years of service. She was a seamstress and enjoyed quilting, painting ceramics, and spending time with her friends and family. She never met a stranger, had an amazing sense of humor and was always complimented for her warmth and huge heart.


She is survived by her son: Mark Slider and partner Steve Matthews; a brother: Francis Wentling and wife Carol; a sister-in-law: Barbara Wentling; as well as her nieces and nephews: Lisa Lyons, Steven Wentling and wife Sharon; Dianna Kulczycki and husband Edward; Iris Leydig; and Larry Wentling and wife Roxanne.


Per her request, there will be no services.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Ark of Hope Rescue, 13400 Arctic Ridge Lane, SE, Oldtown, MD 21555.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Devlin Manor Health Care Center for all the care and compassion given and also to her niece, Dianna, for all the love and support given to mom.
