Mrs. Ruttan transitioned into eternal rest on Monday, July 15, 2024, while at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. The following is the official obituary for Mrs. Ina C. Ruttan:

Ina Cathrine Ruttan (Cat) Sunrise July 19th 1959 - Sunset July 15th 2024 Ina (64), of Leland, NC passed away on July 15, 2024 surrounded by love ones!

Born on July 19, 1959 to Marion and Patricia Richardson. She is survived by her husband Harold Ruttan, sister Connie Kelly of Leland , brother Mike Richardson (April) of Wilmington , Brenda Shingleton a very loving aunt, Ina Jean Calderon of El Paso, TX, 3 sisters-in-laws, 8 nieces, 5 nephews, 8 great nephews, and 7 great nieces, A very special granddaughter, Baby Jay. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Bonnie McDonald, and beloved Uncle Frank and her many dogs over the years who she considered her babies.

Ina was considered the life of the party anywhere she went. She loved any and everybody. She was known as “Aunt Cat” to not only family but strangers to. She enjoyed finding shark teeth, enjoyed concerts, watching the kids, and watching her cartoons and wheels of fortune. We could always count on her to be at any event crying rather it was an happy or sad occasion. She loved her animals and always kept an open door for anyone who needed it. She was always play fighting and cooking for her husband. She was loved so much and we all will miss you so much!

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life October 26, 2024 @ 3pm at 3689 Blue Banks Loop Rd.

Don't grieve for me, I'm exactly where I want to be!

Pain don't exist here, and even though I'm gone I'm still very near!

You miss me and this I know, but I now see places I could not go!

The sun has set for me, but don't cry for a soul set free.

Miss me a little, but not for long, I need you all to just be strong!

For this is a journey we must all someday take. We all know God makes no mistake!

When you are lonely and sick at heart, just remember we are never apart!
