Dorothy J. Rapant Obituary

Passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024 at the age of 94, following a battle with cancer.  Beloved wife of the late John R. Rapant for 69 years.  Devoted mother of Mary Ellen (Paul) Nedd, Barbara Wisniewski, Mark (Jeaninne) Rapant and Fred Rapant.  Beloved grandmother of David (Amanda) Nedd, Brian (Jess Diaz) Nedd, Russell Rapant, Kevin (Ashley Szymborski) Rapant, Richard Rapant and Claire Rapant.  Cherished great-grandmother of Sophia and Aiden Nedd.  Dear daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Totka.  Sister of the late Mary and Sam Scaffidi, the late Betty and Joe Miklas, and the late Margaret and Frank Plachinski.  Sister-in-law of the late Ann and Frank Koracin.   Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Dorothy grew up in Cudahy and several years after marriage moved to South Milwaukee where she resided for 67 years until her passing.  She was a devoted mother, not leaving the home for employment until her children were in their teens.  She was always involved in her children’s activities including volunteering at schools and being a Cub Scout Den Leader and Girl Scout Cookie Chairman for multiple years.  Using her impeccable organizational and clerical skills, she then worked at Patton Scaffolding, Nino’s Steak House, Becker Law Review, MATC, and the city of South Milwaukee.  She enjoyed working challenging jigsaw and crossword puzzles as well as cake decorating, knitting, cross-stitching, and especially spending time with friends.  Dorothy will always be remembered by her family and friends as the kindest and most caring person they knew, as she always put others first.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Divine Mercy Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Habitat for Humanity or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Divine Mercy Parish, 800 Marquette Avenue, South Milwaukee, WI  53172.  The family will receive visitors from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m.   Interment will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Cudahy, WI.
