William (Bill) Carl Wellenkamp, passed away on July 16, 2024. The eldest of three children born to Paul Emil Wellenkamp and Betty Jane (Hayes) in Kalamazoo MI, December 12, 1943. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. Bill married Linda Berlien in February of 1967. In 1973, son William Emil was born. He worked in road and highway construction for decades for Reith & Reilly and Globe Construction in summers and Marvane Oil Co in winters. He concluded his working years at Gull Lake Community Schools prior to retiring and residing north of Prairieville. 10 years ago, he moved with Linda to Delton. Bill enjoyed time at the cottage at Mill Lake for many years. Survived by wife, Linda, sister, Gail Wellenkamp (Texas) and brother, John Wellenkamp (Hawaii), son, William Emil (Darlene Joki), grandchildren, Siiri, Seija and Kesia Wellenkamp. Also surviving are Linda's children, Mark (Georgeanna) Wilson, Brad (Renee) Wilson and Cintry (Dan) Heinrich and several grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by father, Paul Emil and mother, Betty. Bill enjoyed "wheeling and dealing" cars owning over 100 vehicles over his lifetime. Bill was an extremely dedicated, hard worker and took pride in any job well-done. He taught the entire family the values of hard work, always taking care of your loved ones and care for all creatures. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Prairie Home Cemetery in Richland.
