Robert A. White, 86, of Oil City, died Sunday, July 14, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie.


Born November 16, 1937, in Plumer, he was the son of the late Ray and Nellie Shumaker White.


A graduate of Oil City High School, he was an Army veteran having served in Vietnam as a tandem rotor helicopter mechanic.


Bob worked for 29 years as an inspector at the Oil City Glass Plant and worked another 12 years for Ball Foster as a trouble shooter where he travelled to many states.


He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed working on cars; was an avid deer hunter, taking an albino doe at one point; and always enjoyed having a couple of cold beers while watching a Steelers or Pirates game. Bob loved going to the Presque Isle Downs Casino with his daughter Lori and playing slots.


On June 17, 1961, he was married to the former Gretchen L. McNamee who preceded him in death on February 7, 2020.


Surviving are three children, Charles White of Seneca, Kevin White and his longtime girlfriend Sherry Hetrick of Erie, and Lori White of Oil City; two grandchildren, Marley Grace Fryery and Lainey Hope Fryery; and several nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Ann White Fryery; and three sisters, Dorothy Weber, Betty Schreffler, and Mable Gammello.


Visitation will be held at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 4 to 6 pm.


Interment will be in Plumer Cemetery.
