Andrews ~

Gerald V. Payne, Sr., 82, of Pawleys Island, SC, passed away on July 15, 2024 at his residence.

Born October 3, 1941, in Andrews, SC, he was the son of Leonard and Vincent Payne. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Phifer Payne, and a sister, Alicia P. Graham.

Gerald worked for International Paper Company, the Railroad, Westvaco, and Andrews Metal Works throughout his life. He was a talented machinist. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, and nature lover. He enjoyed a friendly game of pool with his friends. He will be missed but we are sure he has found the perfect fishing hole up there.

Gerald is survived by his wife of Pawleys Island, Pennie Hinson Lambert Payne, three sons; Vince (Debbie) Payne, Geoffrey (Joye) Payne, and Danny (Linda) Payne, stepson; Bert (Dawn) Lambert, eight grandchildren; Tori Payne, Sarah Payne, Haleigh P. (Reed) Rimmer, Noah Payne, Taylor Payne, Jordan Payne, Albert Glen (Breeyanna) Lambert, and Hailey L. (Dylan) Gray, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Andrews Chapel of Mayer–Ethridge Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service.
