George W. Bell, II, 88, of Palmyra passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at home with his loving wife Bev and niece Sarah by his side.
Born August 18, 1935 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late George W. and Rebecca E. (Garber) Bell and widower of Patricia W. (Walborn) Bell since February 2008, after 45 years of marriage.
A retired electrician, George had worked for C.L. Groff and Sons and Gumpher Electric. He was a 1953 graduate of Palmyra High School and U.S. Army veteran. George was a lifelong member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren, having been baptized by his grandfather W. F. Garber at the age of 12. In the church, he served as a Deacon, head usher, treasurer of the Joy Sunday School Class, and other committees including the Property Committee. George enjoyed sprint car races, deer hunting, playing softball and basketball and had served as treasurer of Cub Scout Pack 77 and the PCOB Bowling Team. He was an avid and loyal New York Yankees and Washington Redskins fan.
Surviving are his wife of ten years Beverly A. (Neiswender) Bell; son Robert W. Bell (Jennifer) of Boulder, Colorado; daughter Rhonda A. Bell (Ken Glaeser) of Golden, Colorado; sister Evelyn Dietz (widow of Paul) of Palmyra; niece Ann Behnke (Andrew) of Lynchburg, Virginia; and grandson Avery Bell.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2024 at his church, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra preceded by a viewing from 10:00 AM. Interment in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
