Rachel Anne Icenhour Deal, age 89, of Taylorsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

            Rachel was born on November 18, 1934 to the late Clifford and Della Chapman Icenhour.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life her precious husband, William (Billie) Hall Deal; brothers, Graydon, Cohen, and Russell Icenhour; sisters, Doris Hafer and Betty Watts.

            Those left to carry on her legacy and love for people are her children, William Anderson Deal and wife, Virginia, John Coleman Deal and wife, Carnell; daughter, Lisa Anne Deal Odom and Harold; grandchildren, Natalie Deal Johnson and husband, Joie, Matthew Coleman Deal and wife, Hayley, Emily Deal Mash and husband, Brandon, Chase Little and wife, Heather; great-grandchildren, Parker and Callie Johnson, Macklee Little; and her special caretakers, Michelle Childers, Renda Starnes and Sharon Pennell.

            Rachel was known for her beautiful smile and genuine personality. She never met a stranger. In 1971, she became one of the first female businessowners of Matheson Insurance Agency and successfully led her business for 50 plus years, she loved her family and friends fiercely and was known to many as “Maw Deal”.

            The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024 in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Scott Henson and Speaker Jeff Icenhour will officiate. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery.

            The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. prior to the service.

            Matthew Deal, Joie Johnson, Brandon Mash, Parker Johnson, Chase Little, and Logan Stringfellow will serve as pallbearers.

            In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
