Elizabeth Tucker Obituary

Tucker, Elizabeth (Betty) Marina, RN. (nee: Miller), Age 81 yrs.

Passed peacefully away, on July 10, 2024, at Saint Luke’s Home, St. John’s, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Predeceased by her parents; Emmanuel (Man) and Maude (Denty) Miller; brothers Lloyd Miller and Doug Miller; and nephew, Allan Miller.

Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 60 years, Raymond; son, Randy Tucker (Melanie); daughter, Lori Lepine (Peter); grandchildren, Jacob Tucker (Liz McPhail) and Stephanie Tucker (Daniel Hiscock); her precious great-grandson, Theo Hiscock; sister, Velda Tizzard (Dave, deceased); and friend and sister-in-law Doreen Thistle (John), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Betty’s happy place was at the cabin on Terra Nova Lake, where one of her favorite things was trout fishing. She was known to stay many evenings, long after sunset, “down on the point,” casting out in a relentless quest to catch the “big one.” The cabin was always a place where friends were welcomed, and the pot was always full.

Family meant everything to Betty; she was always supportive and so proud of every accomplishment. She loved a get-together for any reason, the bigger the better, and the more the merrier. She always enjoyed lots of company and a bit of fun.

She was also very proud of her career as a Registered Nurse, being a “Grace-Girl” from the class of ’63, where she made many life-long friendships.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Saint Luke’s Home, for the kindness and wonderful care she received during her stay there. Also, to Velda, Doreen, and Ruth Tilley for the many visits that comforted Betty, and our family.

Cremation has taken place, and visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, 2-4pm, and 7-9pm, at Barrett’s Funeral Home, Hamilton Ave. St. John’s.

Funeral Service will take place Saturday, July 13, 2024, 11am, at the Barrett’s Chapel, and interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Saturday July 13, 2024, 2pm. The service will also be livestreamed for those who cannot attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson’s Society NL.
