Priscilla Masury Donovan Obituary

Priscilla Masury (Morse) Donovan, of Litchfield CT, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of June 28, 2024. Priscilla (Pritzie) was born on January 15, 1938, to parents Priscilla and Garlan Morse at Marblehead Hospital in Marblehead MA... As the oldest of four, Pritzie took great pride in helping take care of her three younger siblings Betsy (Morse) Jenney (Cambridge MA), Garlan Morse Jr. (Manchester -by-the -Sea MA), and Frank Morse (Nevis, West Indies) in their younger years. Although each of her siblings have very individual personalities, Pritzie was a “go to” resource for each of them and continued in this capacity as “big sister” until the end. In addition to her siblings and son John L Donovan (Litchfield CT), Pritzie was extremely close to Jody Morse, wife of Gar Morse, and their children

and grandchildren. I am quite certain she was introduced to “album sharing” by those Morse

grandchildren! Opening those pictures on that IPad was her favorite start to a good day.

While growing up, Gar Morse Sr.’s position as a corporate officer within Sylvania Electric Products kept the family on the move. Having begun her elementary school education in Marblehead, a shift to the west coast had Pritzie graduating from Burlingame HS in Burlingame CA and embarking on her college career at San Jose State University. Another transfer, back to the east coast, had her graduating from Endicott Junior College in Beverly MA…

She was married at the young age of twenty-four to John L Donovan of Salem MA and within four years they welcomed John L Donovan, Jr… At the time they were living in New Milford CT but would soon find themselves in Warren CT… Pritzie eventually became the librarian at the Warren Town Library which was a perfect spot for an avid reader. In her younger years she enjoyed tennis, sailing, skiing, or a brisk walk anywhere. Pritzie played bridge locally, enjoyed yoga, and loved a martini or glass of red wine on the right occasion. She was blessed with three grandchildren: John M Donovan (Jack, 26), Caroline E Donovan (23), and Timothy G Donovan (Tim, 21). Hearing stories of school, soccer, college, jobs, successes, and failures were of great interest to Pritzie throughout the last twenty-six years

.

Following John Sr’s passing in 1991, Pritzie did have a “second chapter” of love in her life. Donald MacKinnon and Pritzie spent approximately twenty-five years together before his passing. They enjoyed travel, the beach, and good friends. Don was able to bring her beautiful smile back after John’s passing and for that, I will be forever thankful.

For those that were lucky enough to know her, Pritzie was all you could ask for in a mother, a sibling, or a friend. She would pick you up if you were down, she’d be open and honest if she were down (very rare occasion), and she’d do anything for you. She was truly a caregiver .... Pritzie could light up a room with that smile like no other. She had a magnetic personality that allowed her a connection wherever she landed. She will be missed by so many people, in so many different places.
