Steven Roy Reed Obituary

Steven Roy Reed, born March 12, 1959 was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer March, 2023. Steve fought the disease with determination and grace for one long year before succumbing on June 18, 2024. Steve is survived by his wife, Amy Lynn Reed, his father Robert Reed, sister Cheryl (Cherie) Reed. Preceded in death by his mother Gail Sawyer Reed and his brother Thomas Wayne Reed.

Steve worked at the Camas Paper Mill for 33 years. People who worked with him said he was an amazing guy, who always had a positive attitude and made work a better place. Steve rarely missed a day of work as he never wanted to “call in” so not leave the person he was relieving having to work a double shift.

He was a gifted car mechanic well known in Clark County for his dedication, skill, and determination to figure out a problem and then..fix it! After retirement he enjoyed spending hours in his garage working on vehicles. It was common to hear him talking and laughing with friends while working on their automobiles, many times teaching as he went.

Steve was unusual in that he never sought praise or flattery, but would work tirelessly for those he loved. He was a skilled craftsman with fencing, cement work, woodwork and almost everything that was needed around the home or at his wife’s dog rescue, Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue (which he named).

All the cliches that come to mind when someone passes away never really say what the heart feels. Steve’s smile, tenderness, hard work, laughter, intelligence, loyalty and kindness are gone making all of our hearts seem to beat a little less robustly. Safe journey Steve, we love you and will miss you.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 20th 11:00-2:00pm at Steve’s beloved property and shop. 26100 NE 36th Street, Camas, WA. Come and stay as long as you like there will be snacks and drinks. Please share your “Steve Stories”, visit with others that knew and loved Steve Reed.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations can be made to www.mostlymuttsrescue.com/ donations.
