BIRTH: Mother Barbara Shepard (Ladd) was born November 11, 1936.

In Pensacola Florida to

Dealyer, & George Shepard

Paul & Texanna Pettis

She was an active member of Zion Hope where she taught Sunday school for many years. Then she became an active and Faithful member of Cathedral of Faith, where she served as a part of the Sunday school and the Pheobe ministry for many years until her health began to fail.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony Remod Hawthorne, and from that union were born three children, Joan, Genodria, and Jessie Hawthorne in the 1950’s.

She later married Willie Sam Ladd and to that Union were born three children Wilhemina, Anthony and George Ladd.

Additional children of Willie Ladd from a prior Marriage Nettie Ladd, Eloise (Jimmie) Foster, the late Sherrel & (Perry) Ellis, the late Julia, (Ray) L Moore.

Barbara Ladd’s career spanned many decades.

Began as a Nursing assistant for 7 years

Worked and went to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1966. A member of the NFLPN Association and the President of the local LPN association. Appointed to the Florida State Board of Nursing by the Governor.

Re-appointed to serve for a total of 6 years. Employed by Sacred Heart Hospital for 38 Years. Retired and went back to work for the Escambia County School Board as a Teacher Assistant for 10 years and was an active member of the EEA.

A member of the Movement for Change & the NAACP.

On Sunday July 7, 2024, Mother Barbara Ladd was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She is survived by all 6 of her children (Joan Hawthorne (Gentry), Genodria Hawthorne (Stallworth), Jessie Hawthorne, Wilhemina Ladd (Carlton Gadson), Anthony Ladd, George Ladd (Barbara Ladd) 

 To these were born a myriad of grandchildren, great grandchildren and Great, great grandchildren…
