Raul Martinez Obituary

Raul Martinez, age 94, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

Raul is survived by his children: Raul G. (Maria) Martinez, Magdalena G. Martinez and Hector G. (Susan) Martinez; grandchildren: Raul, Roberto, Hector E., Hector Jr., Adam and Laura; and great-grandchildren: Carley, Christian, Addison, Betty, Manny, Leila, Bjorn, Lira, Tabitha, Camila, Valeria.

Raul was preceded in death by his wife, Ana Martinez (nee Garzon).

After 38 years of service, Raul retired from Inland Steel as a Transportation Foreman. Raul and his late wife, Ana, were members of St. Peter & Paul Church in Merrillville for over 20 years.

Raul, otherwise known as "Pops" to some, had the biggest heart and enjoyed helping others with whatever they needed. He was an avid Cubs fan and looked forward to watching their games. Raul also liked working on his trucks - his "big red and little red".

Most of all, Raul loved spending time with his family. He was the most devoted husband, father, grandfather and a good friend to all. Pops will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be private for Raul's family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Raul's name to Esophageal Cancer Action Network, https://ecan.org/give-the-gift-of-hope/.
