Douglas R. Ferguson Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Douglas Richard Ferguson, which occurred on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024.  Born on August 26th, 1963, in Saint John, he is the son of the late Delphis and Marie (Johnson) Ferguson.  Doug, known to many as “Dougie”, was a dedicated Sales Person at Leons and he also worked for Investors Group up until 1997.  In his earlier years, Doug was an avid marathon runner  who enjoyed swing dancing, sports and golfing.  He was an active volunteer with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.  He was very social, a word wizard with a large vocabulary and he especially enjoyed his Tim Hortons coffee.  Doug cherished every moment spent with his family and friends.  Most of all, he was a proud and devoted father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A special thank you to Forest Hills Special Care Home and the wonderful Angels (staff) who took such amazing care of him.

Doug is survived by his children; Alexander Ferguson and Jessica Ferguson; siblings Janet Ritchie of Saint John, Robert Ferguson of Saint John, Betty-Ann Lewell (Robert) of Willow Grove and Michael Ferguson (Joane) of Willow Grove; grandchildren Carson, Caleb, and Audrey; nieces and nephews Jenn, Scott, Crystal, Stephanie, Tommy, Tony and Nick; as well as many cousins and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, July 16th from 2 to 6 p.m.  A Funeral Liturgy will take place in the Fundy chapel on Wednesday, July 17th at 10 a.m.  Donations in memory of Doug may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
