Barbara Gilbert Obituary

Barbara Gilbert, a longtime resident of the southern Maine area, died on June 30, 2024. Born in 1933 in Boston, MA, Barbara received a degree in the school of hard knocks. She continued her education at the Arsenault homestead, in which she received a bachelors in child rearing. Seriously though, she graduated from Roxbury High School in 1951. Barbara worked at IBM when she met and married her sweetheart, Robert W. Arsenault, on November 25, 1951.


Barbara was a very talented musician. She enjoyed every type of music. She was talented on the accordion, organ, and violin. Barbara also had a love for dance, and she was an excellent ballroom dancer. She also auditioned with her husband, Robert, and was picked to be on the Lawrence Welk show. She was self-taught in music, dance, and baton twirling. She even received one dozen roses from John Kennedy and a kiss on the cheek for a job well done in a parade.


Barbara loved good food and socializing. She enjoyed reading romance novels, playing bingo, and spending time with her family. She had a wonderful smile that lit up a room.


She is predeceased by Robert Arsenault, who passed away on June 30, 2000. She is also survived by her eight children. Barbara Ghiosis from North Attleboro, MA, Robin Mammoli, and her husband John from Attleboro, MA, Yvonne Mitchell from Bridgton, ME, Deborah Brown from Sabbatus, ME, Robert Arsenault Jr. and his wife Nancy from Attleboro, MA, Michelle Arsenault from New River, AZ, Guy Arsenault from Rehoboth, MA and Andre Arsenault and his wife Vicki from Windham, ME. She's also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, and all the lost children that needed a home at one time or another.


She moved to Arizona in 2017 with her daughter, Michelle, and grandson Hunter Bennett. Moving to Arizona was on her bucket list. She enjoyed the state and the weather tremendously. She had many adventures in the state of Arizona with her daughter Michelle. Barbara was a big jokester and loved to laugh in her later years. She lived a long and wonderful life, and she cherished every moment. She was a one of a kind lady and was at peace in the end.
