Annette Rollins McGregor Obituary

Annette Rollins McGregor (88), of Montgomery, AL, passed away on July 10,

2024 after a long illness. Annette lived her life to the fullest, loving her family and

friends deeply and representing her Savior in all that she did.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 14, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist

Church in Montgomery, with visitation from 1:30 - 3:00 PM, Rev. John Schmidt

officiating. A private family burial service will be held at the Alabama National

Cemetery.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, on September 14, 1935, Annette was the third of six

children and moved to Birmingham as a child. She attended Ramsay High School,

where she met the love of her life, Tom. She graduated from Auburn University in

1956 with a dual degree in Home Economics and Education. After graduation, she

got married, began teaching and started a family. In 1962, the family moved to

Montgomery, where Annette grew deep roots of friendship, community, and

ministry for the remainder of her life.

Annette was a committed follower of Jesus and a long-time member of First Baptist

Church Montgomery, where she served as a teacher in her beloved Martha Chandler

Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Merry Weeders Garden Club and

spent years volunteering at her children's schools and in the community. Annette

was a published illustrator with two children’s books, one written by her son,

Tommy, and the second with her sister Frances Rollins King Abrams.

In this life, nothing was more important to Annette than her family. Her marriage to

Tom served as a model for everyone who knew them. Annette's calling and ministry

was to raise her children in Christ and to love her grandsons and great-

grandchildren with all of her heart.

Annette is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Tom McGregor, by her

parents, Charles Averett and Doris Ballenger Rollins, and two of her siblings, Charles

Rollins and Connie Rollins Smith.

Annette is survived by her three children: Tammy Brock (Mike), Debbie Schmidt

(John), and Tommy McGregor (Andrea); Seven grandsons: Michael Brock (Megan),

Rollins Brock, Cameron Schmidt (Katie Jo), Evan Schmidt (Hayly), Graham Schmidt

(Ashton), Webb McGregor, and Wolf McGregor; and seven great-grandchildren.

Annette's grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and members of First Baptist's

Poundstone Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of

flowers, the family would ask that you consider giving a memorial donation in

Annette's name to either the First Baptist Community Ministries, 305 South Perry

Street, Montgomery, AL 36104, or The Launch Mission (founded by Tommy

McGregor), 4171 Lomac Street, Suite B4, Montgomery, AL 36106.
