Carlton will always be remembered for his deep love for God, country, and family. He was an avid sports fan of the Duke Blue Devils and Washington Redskins. His hobbies included golf, landscaping, and teaching and coaching others.

In 1992, he married the love of his life, Penny. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, and friend.
