Michael J. Brennan Obituary

Michael J. Brennan, 68, of Williamsport, and resided at Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born October 29, 1955, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Burtin L. and Lois A. (Douty) Brennan.

Michael was a graduate of the Williamsport Area High School. His sense of duty led him to join the United States Army at the young age of 19, where he honorably served in western Germany during the Vietnam War era. After his military service, Michael continued his commitment to his country by joining the National Guard, where he served for 20 years.

Upon returning to civilian life, Michael furthered his education by earning an associate's degree in electronics from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. He then embarked on a career as a purchasing agent at Primus Technology, where he was known for his dedication.

Michael was an avid computer enthusiast and a lifelong fan of Looney Tunes. A history buff, Michael loved anything related to the military. He loved fishing and was a skilled chess player, known for his strategic mind and competitive spirit, which earned him the title of champion chess player at the nursing home where he resided.

Michael's heart was full when it came to his family. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Jackie Y. (Phillips) Brennan, who was his partner in every sense of the word. "Luke" Brennan; as well as his stepdaughter, Sarah E. Hirschle; 11 grandchildren Alexis Hennigan, Shara Brennan, Kendall Hennigan, Sam, Brianna, Abrielle, Dakoda, Sawyer, Trinity, Grayson, and Owen Brennan; sister-in-law, Susan Brennan; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers David L. "Bud" Brennan and Dennis "Doc" Brennan, and his beloved cat, Alex.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
