Larry Alex Lilly Obituary

Mr. Larry Alex Lilly of North Prince George, VA, departed this life on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at TriCities Hospital in Hopewell, VA. Larry was born on September 7, 1949 in Briarfield, Alabama to the late Zeddie and Lizzie Lilly. Zeddie and Lizzie had 12 children; Larry Lilly, Zeddie Lilly, Jr., Arthur Lilly, Robert Lilly, Charles Lilly, John Lilly, Rubye Carter, Annie Fuller, Betty Cox, Bernice Carter, Elizabeth Hill and Louise Cobb.

Larry was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a wonderful cook and made the best sweet potato pies, banana pudding and fried chicken. Larry treated everyone with respect and put the needs of others before his own. Although Larry loved football, baseball, cooking and friends, nothing compared to the love he had for his grandsons.

Larry retired as Sergeant First Class from the United States Army after 21 years of service. As per Larry's Narrative from the army: "Larry was commended for his exceptional and meritorious service, versatility, excellent leadership abilities and superb technical knowledge. His sincere concern made him an excellent squad leader. All of his accomplishments reflected great credit upon him."

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his loyal friends, Ronald Dent and James Rhymes.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Saskia Lilly, Jessica Lilly and Candice Peterson; four grandsons, Noel Peterson, Jamico Peterson, Jacoby Peterson and Christopher Payne, Jr.; devoted friend, Sherell Edwards, along with her and Ronald's children, A'mani Edwards and Isiah Edwards, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. We are saddened that Larry did not get to meet his great-granddaughter, Zanova Peterson, who will be born soon. He would've been the best great-grandpa.

Larry will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
