Lydia Sumido Ruiz, a beloved member of the Seattle community, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, in Issaquah, WA. Born on January 2, 1936, in Iloilo, Philippines, to Jose Sumido, Sr. and Felicidad Jereza Sumido, Lydia lived a life full of warmth and joy.


Raised in Iloilo and lived in Bellevue and Seattle, WA, Lydia found her calling in the hospitality industry. She dedicated many years to housekeeping at the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel, where her hard work and kindness touched many lives.


In August 1997, Lydia married Adolfo Ruiz, with whom she shared many happy years. She cherished spending time with her family and friends and had a special fondness for watching the Filipino channel. Lydia's sweet, caring nature, easy-going personality, and contagious laugh will be remembered by all who knew her.


Lydia is survived by her brother, Jose Sumido, Jr.; sister-in-law, Priscilla Sumido; niece, Jolla Sumido Huff; and grand-niece, Makena Sumido Ramirez. Her legacy of love and joy will live on in their hearts.


A Funeral Mass will be said at 11am, Friday, July 12, 2024 at St. Louise Parish. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time.
