Dolores Edna Yost Obituary

Dolores Edna Yost, 94, of Sugarloaf passed away peacefully on Monday at the home of her daughter Bonnie and John Hrycyna.

Born in Wapwallopen on October 12, 1929 she was the daughter of Edward and Viola Edna (Hess) Spangler. Dolores spent her entire life in the Hazleton Area with her younger years being spent in Conyngham and Hazleton.

Dolores was a 1947 graduate of West Hazleton High School and spent her married life in Sugarloaf. She was a beloved member of the community but most importantly she took pride in being a devoted mother and homemaker and was truly dedicated to raising her family.

She had a love for music that was evident in her skills as a pianist. She brought joy to her family and to everyone who listened. In high school she played for the Glee Club and held many piano recitals where she enjoyed playing Chopin. She continued to play till she passed.

Her family was extremely proud of her talent. She earned a scholarship to St Louis University and was certified to teach. She taught all her five of her children to play.

Dolores also loved to dance. She was very good at it and won several dance contests and was featured on television during the Ballroom Show.

She was a devoted Christian and an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Conyngham. She participated in The Federation of Bible classes, and she played the piano for Sunday School and other events at the Church. She was also a member of the Nuremburg Lionettes.

Dolores loved and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling especially to Lancaster, the western states and she spent time in Europe vacationing.

She was a woman who was loved by so many and was always the life of the party. She had a warm, amazingly loving personality. If you were lucky enough to meet her, you became an instant friend.

Dolores was preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Merald N. Yost Jr. who died in 1995 along with her brothers, Robert and Earl Spangler.

She is survived by her 5 children: David Yost and his wife Debra, Sugarloaf,

Richard Yost and his wife Nancy, Sugarloaf, Deborah Cushman and her husband Brian Drums, Bonnie Hrycyna and her husband John, Sugarloaf, and Randy Yost, Sugarloaf. She adored her 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She had many special friends who meant so much to her; Aunt Ruth, Shelby, Eileen, Ellie Mae, Dawn, Anne, Kitty and Dorothy to name a few.

Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Feldman, Dr Eugene Stish, Maylath Home Health Care and the nurses and doctors at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.
