Evelyn Jean Vance, 75, a lifelong resident of Berkley, passed away in her home on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Evelyn was born on September 3, 1948, in Royal Oak, Michigan to George F. and Ruby E. Vance.


Evelyn graduated from Berkley High School in 1966 and went on to earn a degree in Applied Science from Oakland Community College. She dedicated 39 years to AT&T, retiring in 2005. She was an active member of Berkley Community Church, where she participated in various activities and cherished her community.


Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Marilyn Knysz and Nancy Ellen Vance and her brothers, George (Maureen) Vance and James (Renee) Vance. She was a beloved aunt to her nephews: Mark (Laura) Russell, Greg Russell, Daniel Vance, Eric (Katie) Vance, Ryan (Brian Silvola) Vance, Aaron (Mary) Vance, and Paul Vance; and her nieces: Christy Vance and Emily Vance. Evelyn also leaves behind many great-nephews; Malaki (Caitlin) Brown, Brendan (Giselle) Pease, and Joshua Vance; and great nieces: Kya Vance, Kahlia Hill, Megan Russell, Lyle Vance, and Violet Vance. Her legacy extends to two great-grandnieces: Henna Brown and Violet Pease. Her parents George F. and Ruby E., brother David M., nephew Scott D. and brother-in-law Douglas Knysz precede her in death.


Evelyn will be memorialized at Berkley Community Church at a future date. Following the service, a reception will be held to celebrate Evelyn's life, her love for gardening, her passion for animals and nature, and the joyful adventures she shared with her family and friends.


Evelyn's warmth and kindness touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berkley Community Church, in memory of Evelyn Vance.
