Ron Hoback, age 77 of Riverside, CA died on February 8, 2022. He was born in 1944 in Wytheville, VA to Annie and Peyton Hoback and graduated from George Wythe High School in 1962 where he was quarterback of the varsity football team and voted Homecoming King. He attended college at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA and East Tennessee State in Johnson City, TN and volunteered to serve in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era where he began a lengthy career in logistics. He married his high school sweetheart in 1965 and lived in Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, Nebraska and ultimately in California. After completing his military service, Ron began his professional career as a driver for UPS and eventually worked his way up to serving as Operations Manager and Director of Operations for several large distribution companies, sometimes being asked to travel the country to fix failing operations. After retirement, Ron would take daily walks in the local park with his son and his dogs where he would share stories of his colorful history with friends and strangers alike. Ron was predeceased by his wife Martha, his parents and brothers Don, Joe and Gary. He is survived by his son Chris, sister Patty and several nieces and nephews. A service will be held in the park where he would take his daily walks on Saturday, March 12.
