Armand Peter Dufresne Obituary

CHESAPEAKE – Armand P. Dufresne, 74, died due to long term illness on July 8, 2024 at VA Beach General Hospital. He was born December 15, 1949 in Achushnet, MA. He was the middle son of Peter Dufresne Jr and Glorianna (Dupuis) Dufresne.


Armand was a feisty fellow who found a friend and lent a helping hand everywhere he went. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Detector during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he earned an associate degree in Business Management at TCC and worked as a welder, home inspector, and other trades throughout his life. He spent the last 30 years with his wife he called his angel, Kathleen Dufresne and celebrated their 19th anniversary this past April. Together they participated in Civil War Reenactments. Armand also founded the Old Truck Club of VA, held position with Car Club Council of Hampton Roads, and since an early age volunteered at local fire departments where he found joy as a search and rescue diver.


In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew Shawn Dufresne. Surviving in addition to his wife, Kathleen, are his brothers, Edmund Dufresne and his wife Donna of Achushnet; and Richard Dufresne of Achushnet. Daughters Jennifer Brown and her husband John of Chesapeake; Julie Cherisier and her husband Rudy of Chesapeake, and Glynna Tuggle and her husband Michael of Marion. Nieces Michele Dufresne, Rachael Dufresne, and Melissa Rego and family. Nephews Joseph Dufresne and Craig Dufresne. Grandchildren Jordan and Jillian Brown of Chesapeake. Katie Pluchino and her husband Devin of VA Beach, Patrick Cahoon of Marion, VA, Amber Lane and her husband Jordan of Marion, VA. And over 13 great children.


Visitation will be held on Friday, July 12 from 5pm-8pm at Snellings Funeral Home, 1144 George Washington Highway N., Chesapeake, VA, 23323. A remembrance service by Pastor John McCloud will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 11am with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A reception will take place afterward.
