Richard H. Ratcliffe, known affectionately to friends and family as Richard or Dick, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on May 16, 1946, in Matawan, New Jersey, Richard was a lifelong resident of the community he loved and where he also drew his last breath. Richard's life was marked by a profound dedication to his family, his work, and his community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jill Ratcliffe; his sons, Rick and Matthew Ratcliffe; his daughter, Lisa Perry, and son-in-law, Robert Perry; his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan and Katie Perry; his daughter, Allison Ketcham, son-in-law, Kenneth Ketcham; and his adored grandchildren, Keira and Caiden Ketcham. Each family member was a source of immense pride and joy for Richard, and he devoted himself to their happiness and well-being.

For many years, Richard was a respected employee at RR Donnelley, where he worked as a financial printer. His keen eye for detail and unwavering work ethic made him a valued team member and a mentor to many in the industry. Following his time at RR Donnelley, Richard continued to serve his community through his role as a custodian with the Holmdel School District. There, he was known for his friendly demeanor, reliability, and the care he put into maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff alike. Richard's involvement in his community extended beyond his professional life. He was an active participant in the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #192., Matawan Historical Society and Matawan Boy Scout Troop 66 where he shared his time and skills generously. His commitment to service was a testament to his character, and he was respected by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Those who knew Richard will remember him as a man of integrity, kindness, and gentle humor. He had the rare ability to lift spirits with a simple smile or a warm conversation, and his presence was a comfort to many.
