Judith “Judy” Ann Branch Thomas, 82, of Collinsville, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Donald “Don” Thomas; parents, Hazle Boyle Branch and Herbert L. Branch, Sr.; and her great-grandchild, Ty Allen Gongloff.


She was born August 16, 1941, in Asheville, NC to her mother Hazle and her father, Herbert, Sr.


During her lifetime, Judy was a music teacher with over thirty years of employment. She was also a member of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and volunteered at Grace Network for many years. In her free time, Judy liked to go on thrilling trips. Some of her most exciting destinations were Ireland, and the Canadian Rockies.


Judy also loved to spend time with her big loving family, brother and sister-in-law, Herbert Leon Branch, Jr. and Linda Branch of Asheville, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Suzanne and Eddie Woolwine of Christiansburg, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Blake Flemming and Joyce Ann Thomas of Martinsville, VA; four grandchildren, Kelsey Nicole Woolwine, Mitchell Ryan Woolwine (wife, Nicole Woolwine), Natalie Brooke Gongloff (husband, Mark Gongloff), and Casey Blake Thomas. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Alley Jordan Gongloff, late Ty Allen Gongloff, Thomas Allen Gongloff, and Ella Joy Gongloff.


Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Smith Memorial United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ryan Ware officiating. Burial will be held at Henry Memorial Park.
