MaryAnne (Corliss) Igoe, 83, of Ellington, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Waltham, MA, to the late Thomas F. and Margaret (Robarge) Corliss, MaryAnne graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing and began her career in Pediatrics and in the ICU at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA, where she worked for nine years before leaving to start a family. After raising her sons, she returned to nursing at Center Road School in Vernon, CT, where she dedicated 20 years of service.


MaryAnne's life revolved around her cherished children and grandchildren. She delighted in attending her grandchildren’s recitals, regattas, and school events, and took great pleasure in creating picture books that captured precious memories over the years. She also loved to travel, enjoying visits to Maine, Hawaii, Ireland, Florida, and day trips to the beaches of Rhode Island.


MaryAnne is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stephen M. Igoe of Ellington, CT; her sons Stephen T. Igoe and his wife Sara (Gill) of Grafton, MA, with grandchildren Lindsay and Caitlin; Brian W. Igoe and his wife Andrea (Villani) of Naples, FL, with grandchildren Alexandra and Patrick; and Michael C. Igoe and his wife Katherine (Malkovsky) of Boston, MA, with grandchildren Isabelle and Desmond. She is also survived by her brother Thomas L. Corliss and his wife Mary Ellen of Westfield, MA; her twin sister Joanne M. Corliss of Springfield, MA; her sister Margaret (Corliss) Cuoco and her husband Lawrence of Springfield, MA; and her sister Kathleen (Corliss) Pondelli, predeceased by her husband Albert, of Somerville, MA. Additionally, MaryAnne leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends from Western Massachusetts and Connecticut.


Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte 83) in Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 15, beginning at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish – St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Guests are asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Massachusetts State Veterans Cemetery in Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation (cdlsusa.org), 30 Tower Avenue, Suite 400, Avon, CT 06001 or to The American Cancer Society (cancer.org), P.O.
