Richard Lee Doan 71, of Bedford, Indiana passed away on July 6, 2024. Born January 28, 1953, in Salem, Indiana, he was the son of Carl Golson and Mavis Imogene Hammond Doan. He married Nina Harrell on June 20, 2015.


Richard was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford and was a graduate of West Washington High School in 1971. Richard worked for over 30 years and retired as a supervisor at the Indiana Department of Transportation, Paoli Subdistrict. He was a member of the American Patriot Lodge No. 750 F&AM in Oolitic.


Surviving to cherish the memory of Richard is his wife, Nina Doan; sister Susan (Jan Gresham) Doan; nieces, Sarah (John) Kitchens and Diane Hammond; great nieces and nephews, Ella Kitchens, Zach Kitchens, Wynston Kitchens, and Andrew Hammond; along with numerous friends and associates.


Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, William Fred Harrell.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 13, 2024, at 11:00am at the Hillcrest Christian Church, 1130 Hillcrest Rd, Bedford, IN 47421, with Minister Charlie Scott and Minister Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Port Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Christian Church on Friday July 12, 2024, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, and on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Masonic Rites will be held at the church on Friday at 6:00pm.


Arrangements for Richard Lee Doan have been entrusted to the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, Indiana.


In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford or the Posey Fire and Rescue, 2590 W. Strickland Rd., Pekin, IN 47165.
