Clarence Michael Heroy, 89, passed away peacefully on July 8, at Castle Point VA Medical Center.
He was born in Beacon, NY on March 2, 1935, to Clarence and Rose Heroy (Baracca). He was affectionately known to everyone as Junie or Uncle June. In early years, he was a projectionist at the Roosevelt Theater, which was owned by his family. Later, he worked at Castle Point and Nabisco and eventually retired from Federal Paper, closing the plant down. June served in the US Air Force from 1953-1957 and was a proud member of the Democratic Party.
June was an avid bowler and loved to play cards. He was an animal lover and a wonderful cook. One of June’s guilty pleasures was eating pizza regularly from Roma Nova. He was also a terrific baker who treated everyone to a homemade birthday cake. June was kind, generous and a barrel of laughs, which only endeared him even more to his many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Each of them have many fond memories of a very special uncle, whom they adored. He will leave behind a true legacy of love and laughter.
June is survived by a sister, Helen Heroy Byers, niece, Kimberley Bradley-Lennon and her husband Kevin, a beloved great-niece, Autumn Rose Lennon, his nephew’s wife, Migdalia Bradley, three godchildren, John Keenan, Angie Spacone Bertalot, and Toni Spacone Carpenter, many “adopted” nieces and nephews, as well as cousins. He was pre-deceased by his parents, a sister, Phyllis Neary, and nephews, Joseph P. Bradley and Bryan A. Byers.
The family would like to thank Sabrina Keenan Bailie for the love and compassion she showered June with. A special debt of gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Castle Point VA Hospital and VA Veteran’s Village for the wonderful care that was given to our beloved June.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
