Frank Hillier Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Frank Hillier of Creston South formerly of Fortune announces his passing. Frank passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the age of 79.

Frank was known to live his life by his faith in God and for the love he had for his family. Frank was a gardening enthusiast with his love of flowers being evident with his gardens both in Fortune and Creston South. Frank loved to tell stories, especially those of growing up on Brunette Island. Frank was also an avid reader, he loved to read about history, enjoyed documentaries and kept up-to-date on the latest political news. Growing up he loved hockey and remained a loyal Boston Bruins fan to the end. Despite his lengthy illness, he always remained positive and humorous. He always had a smile for everyone who he met and was an inspiration to others.

Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife, Florence of 58 years; son, Steven Hillier (Claudette) of Conception Bay South; daughter, Sherry Curtis (Danny) of Creston South; grandchildren, Jarod Hillier (Alena), David Hillier (Kiara) and Kaitlyn Curtis; sisters, Doris Rose (Fred Murphy) of Fortune and Maxine Symes (Terry) of Fortune; brothers, Reg Hillier (Linda) of Burin, Merrill Hillier (Shirley) of Grand Bank and Manuel Hillier of Grand Bank; sisters-in-law, Betty Hillier of Fortune, Bertha Stratton (Clayton) of Carbonear, Sheila Forsey (Jordan) of St. John's and Joan Perham of Corner Brook; brother-in-law, Verd Perham (Lynn) of Portugal Cove; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Maxwell & Mary Hillier; brothers, Maxwell Hillier and Edward Hillier; parents-in-law, Merrill & Elizabeth Perham; and brothers-in-law, William Rose and Norman Perham.

The Hillier Family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to those who cared for him during the many visits over the past 2 1/2 years at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre including staff of The Chemo Unit, ICU, Emergency Dept and The Medicine Ward.
