Thomas Eugene Courtright, fondly known as Thomas, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on October 18, 1948, in Lancaster, Ohio, to Walter and Lillian Courtright, Thomas lived a life marked by courage, adventure, and selflessness. His journey through life's hills and valleys was a testament to the strength and resilience that defined his character. 

Preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife, Shirley, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage; his sisters, Gloria Jean, Dorothy Marie, and Ruth Ann; and brothers, Walter James and Raymond Allen. Thomas's legacy continues through his loving family. He is survived by his sister, Mary Saunders (Dave) of North Carolina, and Diane Sue Shaeffer of Lancaster, OH. His memory will be cherished by his four sons, Greg Courtright (Connie) of Appling, Tommy Courtright (Becky) of Hawaii, Jeff Courtright (Lita) of Lincolnton, and Jason Courtright (Susan) of Lincolnton. His spirit lives on in his 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who will remember their grandfather as a pillar of strength and love.

Thomas completed high school and demonstrated a lifelong commitment to education and personal growth, obtaining several diplomas and certificates during his time in the military. His professional life was marked by a distinguished career in the United States Army, where he retired as a Communications First Sergeant. His dedication to serving his country was not just a job but a calling, one that he fulfilled with honor and distinction.

Throughout his life, Thomas found solace in the great outdoors. His love for his horses was only matched by his passion for camping at Cooper's Creek and working outside. These activities brought him great joy and provided a sanctuary where he could connect with nature and enjoy life's simpler pleasures.

His adventurous spirit led him to explore life with vigor and enthusiasm. Thomas was a man who never shied away from a challenge and faced every situation with courage. He was a mentor, a role man, and a friend to many, leaving a lasting impact on the lives he touched.
