Arthur Leonard “Art” Sanders, 88, of Baytown, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Art was born July 23, 1934 in Crowville, Louisiana, to parents; Isaac A. “Ike” and Ina Bell Freeman Sanders and has been a lifelong resident of the Baytown area.  He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, veteran of the US Navy, a former pumper for Rohm and Haas, and a retired GCCISD bus driver.  Art was also a pilot and member of Victory Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, flying, and airplanes.

Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law:  Terry Sanders, brother:  Orie Sanders, and sisters:  Lola Burnett and Lucille Nulisch.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years:  Jo Kervin Sanders, daughter:  Kimberly Sampson and husband Kristoffer, sons:  Jerry L. Sanders and Orie C. Sanders and wife Virginia, grandchildren:  Bowen Isaacs, Keaton Sanders, Jillian Sanders, and Lennox Sampson, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the Victory Baptist Church with interment following at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.
