Lucia "Lucy" Townsend Obituary

Lucia “Lucy” Ann Townsend, 100, of Milford, beloved wife of the late William Reed Townsend, passed away at her home on August 9, 2022 with her family by her side. Born on December 13, 1921 in Ridgefield, CT, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Natalina (Luminata) Gaeta.

Entrepreneur, thespian, and vocalist are just a few of the many titles that defined Lucy throughout her lifetime. Lucy and her Husband were the proprietors of the Hilltop Lodge in Milford, owner of Nutmeg Septic, and purchaser/manager of numerous investment properties. She was a talented opera singer and enjoyed performing theater. Lucy was also an avid gardener. Her most important role, however, was as her family matriarch; she enjoyed spending countless hours with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her legacy will forever live on in all the lives she touched.

Lucy is survived by her children, Natalie (Thomas F.) Cash, Gwendolyn (William P.) Farrell, Sr., and Robin Tarkhan; grandchildren, Kirsten P (Bradley) Hakes, Anthony J. (Antonia Barba) Peleckis, III, Elizabeth A. (Jorge) Melendez, Andrew Reid  Peleckis (Mark Itkin), Erica Smith, William P. (Hannah Huber) Farrell, Jr., Jacqui (Kenneth) Matthews, Joshua D. Farrell, Alexandra “Kiki” O’Keeffe, Zachary Tarkhan, and Victoria (Steven Micali) Tarkhan; great grandchildren, Lindsay (James) Meegan, Aidan Hakes, Hunter Reid Smith, Sara, Allyson, Daniel, Presley, Zachary, and Julian Micali; and a large extended family. Lucy was predeceased by her siblings, Dominic, James, Anthony, Rose, Albert, and Modestino Gecinceis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish) 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CHURCH). Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT. To leave online condolences, please visit www.codywhitefuneralservice.com.
