Ronald Arthur Eldridge Obituary

Ronald “Ron” Arthur Eldridge, 74, a native of Phoenix, AZ and a resident of Coarsegold, CA for 17 years, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022. Ron and his family moved to California when he was 1 year old where they lived in Chowchilla for a few years then moved to Mariposa where his family owned and operated a 200-acre turkey and chicken ranch for several years. Ron was always interested in sports, especially baseball and he played 3rd base on a little league team in Mariposa. They won a championship and were able to go to San Francisco where he met Willie Mays, one of his favorite players with the Giants. When Ron was 15 he and his family moved back to Arizona where he graduated from Marysville High School. When Ron was 18 he joined the United States Marine Corp. He proudly served our country during the Vietnam War and survived the Tet Offensive. He was a recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Clusters, the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation and a certificate of Commendation from the Commanding General of the 1st Marine Division. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Marine Corp League.

Ron was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended at the Oakhurst Yosemite Ward. He enjoyed many different styles of music and was a marvelous chef, and he loved serving and spending time with family and friends. Ron was well known for his many interesting often humorous stories.

Ron is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife Carol Eldridge of Coarsegold, CA, his children, Ronald A. Eldridge II and his wife Dusty of Oregon, Chantel Nill and her husband Steve of Sun Tan Valley, AZ, Candice Eldridge of Mesa, AZ, Daniel Hawkins and his wife Zoe of Virginia, Pollyanna Johnson and her husband Andrew of Puerto Rico, Mindy Hawkins of Los Angeles, CA Jonathan Hawkins and his wife Rebecca of Madera, CA and Joshua Hawkins of Fresno, CA. He leaves his sister Kathleen Eldridge of Mesa, AZ along with 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Ron also leaves behind many wonderful friends an extended family who loved him dearly.

Ron is preceded by his son Allen Hawkins and Grandson Zackary Davis.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 10:30 to 11:15 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 49967 Rd 427, Oakhurst, CA 93644. Funeral Services will follow at the church at 11:30 a.m. and burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery in Oakhurst, CA at 1:00 p.m.
