Donald F. Lundy Obituary

Donald F. Lundy, 85, of Naples, Florida, and Rockford, Illinois, died on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Don was born in Lyons, New York in April, 1937. He was the son of Henry and Ethel (Coles) Lundy.
Don married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Baarda, in December, 1955. They were married for over 65 years. They started their life’s journey in Grand Rapids, Michigan having three children. His career took them to eleven states before he retired in 1993.
Don spent the majority of his career in sales and marketing. He started as a sales representative for Behr-Manning (now Norton) in Saginaw, Michigan, selling coated abrasives. Don rose through the ranks fulfilling positions in district, regional and national sales management. He finished his career as Vice President, General Manager of North Health Care in Rockford, IL.
Don was a “people” person and made many lifelong friends through business and sports. His love of sports involved playing football, basketball and baseball in high school. Later in life, he played softball, tennis, golf and snow and jet skied. Golf was his real passion. He was a member at Forest Hills Country Club in Rockford, Illinois, where he served as board President. He was also a member at Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club in Naples, Florida, where he served on many committees, including board President. One of his fondest memories was shooting even par 72 at Eagle Creek with four birdies in a row on the back nine. A golf trip to Scotland with his golf buddies was also high on his memory list.
Don loved life and was loved by many whom included friends and family alike. He was a loving husband, father and doting grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Pat, three children, Ron & Jacque Lundy (Venice, FL), Rick & Kathy Lundy (Rockford, IL) and Sheryle (Lundy) McMillan (Vernon, CT) and his sister, Shirley Lodewyk (Bay City, MI). He leaves eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Don will be interred at a service on Saturday August 27, 2022 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rockford, Illinois. A celebration of his life will take place at Eagle Creek in Naples, Florida on Sunday November 6, 2022. He will be forever missed and never forgotten by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Lely Presbyterian Church in Naples, Florida or Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rockford, Illinois.
