Barbara Ann DeWitt Obituary

Barbara A. DeWitt, age 87, of Pickerington, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. Born October 15, 1934 in Manchester, New Hampshire to the late Hercules & Anna (Mitchell) Chakas. She was a retired clerk at Turner & Shepard Insurance Consultants in Columbus and was a member of the Demorest Moose Lodge #11 and the Northern Stars Camping Club. She was also an avid OSU Buckeyes fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil E. DeWitt in 2006; and her brother-in-law, Bob Gerkin.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Redd; grandchildren, Allison Johnson and Mitchell Redd; great-grandson, Mikey Johnson; brother, Tom Chakas; sister, Carol Gerkin; nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Rd N (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, where funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm. Interment after at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Columbus.
Friends who wish may contribute to either the Kidney Foundation or Central Ohio Diabetes Association in her memory.
