Olen Elmore Rains Obituary

Olen Elmore Rains of Amarillo, died August 9, 2022.  He was born July 17, 1931 in Clay County to Clyde and Willie Mae Rains.  Olen married Katie Elaine Skinner on June 30, 1955 in Kress at his parents’ home.    He was a member of the United States Navy.  Olen worked for Transwestern Pipeline, Enron and Crosstex and managed a small natural gas pipeline from Hereford to Bovina for all of the farmers along the pipeline.  His hobbies were reading, flying small airplanes, playing golf, snow skiing and bridge.  Olen was a member of Central Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Nolan; two sisters, Anna and Bobbi.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Rains; his daughter, Elizabeth Rains; his son, Doug Rains; his granddaughter, Danielle Mulherin and husband Matt; his grandson, Andrew Lookingbill and wife Jacqui; his great grandsons, Dallen, Everitt and Liam; his granddaughter, Isabella and sister, Nell Rains.

 

Family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 4-6 pm Sunday, August 14, 2022.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 15, 2022 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Mr. Ira Purdy of Central Church of Christ officiating.  A Private Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
