Terry Lee Spurlock Obituary

Terry Lee Spurlock, passed away on August 10, 2022 after an extended illness. He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife Ann Padron, his daughter Kristina Spurlock (Kevin), son Brian Spurlock (Kelly) and grandsons, Taylor, Aiden, Quinn & Ryker. He was predeceased by his parents Boyce & Garnette Spurlock and survived by his sister, Judy Higgins (Henry), nephew Jeff Higgins (Yvonne), great nephew Joshua Higgins (Ashley), great niece Brittany Johnson (Jason), great great nephews Bryson Higgins & Blaine Higgins and great great nieces Emileigh Johnson & Madilynn Johnson.

Terry was born and raised in Shelbyville, TN and is a 1969 graduate of University of Tennessee. Further education included the completion of National Commercial Lending School at University of Oklahoma -1979 and Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University -1984.

Terry was a well respected commercial lender with a 45 year banking career. He moved to Florida in 1980 where he worked for various banking institutions in different locations & capacities, the majority of his career was with Bank of America. After retiring in 2015 Terry continued to work as a consultant.

Previous Affiliations include Civil Air Patrol – Naples Squadron Finance Officer; SW Florida Urban Land Institute District Council – Past Sponsorship Chair; Florida Gulfcoast University Real Estate and Finance Advisory Committee; Angel Flight of Southeast; Naples Pilot Association – Treasurer; Kiwanis – Past Outstanding Club President; Lions – Past Lion of the Year & Naples Chamber of Commerce. Presently a Member of the Quiet Birdmen – Governor of Naples Hangar and Member of Naples Flying Club.

One of Terry’s great loves was flying and was a private recreational pilot since 1994. He loved the Bahamas and the Bahamian people and traveled extensively throughout the Bahamas as well as other Caribbean Countries and was one of the original Bahamas Sr. Flying Ambassadors with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. He enjoyed encouraging and teaching fellow pilots the requirements to travel to the islands for fly-in’s to the various family out islands. Terry was also instrumental in planning & organizing humanitarian and relief missions to get needed food and supplies to the islands post hurricanes.

Most rewarding was Terry’s involvement with Angel Flight Southeast as a volunteer pilot that would require transporting non-emergency patients in need of special treatments to various hospitals in the Southeast. He was always hopeful that he was a part of saving someone’s life with every trip he made.

His love of travel & flying often converged such as when he was able to obtain temporary pilots licenses to fly in both Tahiti & Hawaii while vacationing. Terry loved being on the water, fishing & diving just as much as he loved to fly.

Terry lived life to its fullest and made friends everywhere he went, maintaining valuable friendships lasting decades. He especially enjoyed mentoring and teaching and will leave a lasting impact both professionally and personally. He always made a point to celebrate & recognize everyone’s Birthday each year and was the “Happy Hour” organizer.

It was a life well lived and Terry will be missed immensely by his wife & soul mate of nearly 40 years, his children, grandsons, family and friends.

Terry, you were loved yesterday, are loved today and will be loved tomorrow. Blue Skies and Tailwinds.
