Johnny Yslas Obituary

Johnny C. Yslas, age 68, died of complications from renal failure August 14, 2022 in his home surrounded by family, at the age of 68. He was born July 15, 1954, in Fresno California, the son to Santana and Berta Yslas. Johnny graduated from Madera High School, Class of 1974. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army. After serving several years overseas, he returned home and joined the National Guard. Johnny’s total service to his country exceeded 20 years.

In 1977, he married the love of his life Sally Samudio. They celebrated 45 years of marriage in May. John was a welder by trade for over 40 years, but his true passion was baseball. He coached and umpired his two sons along with hundreds of other young men in the Madera Little League for over 20 years and was inducted into the Little League Hall of Fame in 2020.

John was well known in his community as a hard-working father and husband with a generous and no-nonsense nature. People knew he was a man who could be counted on. John and Sally had three children of their own but John was a father figure to many.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Marina and Emily as well as his dearly loved Father in law Vincent Samudio and warm-hearted son David Anthony Yslas. Surviving in addition to his wife, Sally (Samudio) Yslas, are his daughter Marissa Yslas and son and daughter in law, Johnny and Heather Yslas; four grandsons Mario (Gordo) Caudillo, Malachi Caudillo, Matthias Caudillo and Mason Yslas; one brother, Santana Yslas; Mother in Law Sarah Samudio and many nieces and nephews.
