Doris June Potter Obituary

Doris June Potter entered her Heavenly home on August 18, 2022. She was born August 21, 1936 in Maud, Oklahoma to Otto and Ellen Nugent. Doris grew up in Wayne and graduated from Wayne High School. She was active in basketball in high school and this led to a lifetime of admiration and love of all sports. She married the love of her life, Curtis Potter, on January 25, 1961. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters and 39 years of a wonderful marriage prior to Curtis’ passing in 2000.
Doris loved cooking and hosting family gatherings. Cooking was something that she truly enjoyed and no one was to leave her home without being well fed. The holidays brought her great delight and she cherished that time with family each year. Doris was an exceptionally hard worker both in her home and in her family businesses. She worked alongside her husband and daughters daily in their restaurants over the years and built many lifelong friendships with their customers and employees. Even after the passing of Curtis, she continued to work alongside her daughters in their restaurants. Doris loved and lived for her daughters. Her family was the light of her life and her legacy will continue forever through the numerous hearts she touched.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Otto and Ellen Nugent; loving husband, Curtis Potter; and sisters, Helen Avery, Florene Willingham, Ruby Manning, and Jackie Chapman.
Those left to continue her legacy include her daughters, Kimberly Bane and husband Dennis, Kelli Michael and husband Billy, and Karla Mitchell and husband Brian; grandchildren, Ryan Ratzlaff and wife Kristen, Jennifer Yount and husband Jamie, Derek Michael and wife Allie, Melissa Michael, Lindsey Michael, Curtis Mitchell, and Cody Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Kinsey Ratzlaff, Breylon Ratzlaff, Canon Michael, Crew Michael, Maris Michael, Hayden Johnson, Atticus Johnson, and Dax Michael. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
