Betty Ann Lankford Obituary

Mrs. Betty Ann Lankford, aged 93, of Niceville, Florida passed away early in the morning Friday, August 19th 2022, in her home, surrounded by her family.

Betty Ann was an active member of her church, Choctaw Beach United Methodist Church, a loving mother, grandmother and aunt, and a loyal friend to many within her community.

Born February 7, 1929, Betty Ann grew up and raised her own family in Atlanta, GA.  She earned a nursing certificate and worked as a nurse early in her life, did seasonal work in department stores, and took care of her home. She enjoyed spending time with her family, vacationing at her cabin on the lake and boating. She moved with her husband, Billie Joe and 3 children to Lake Lanier in North GA in the 70s before relocating to her Bayfront home in Destin, Florida in 1987. Mrs. Lankford moved to Niceville, FL in 2004.

Betty Ann was devout in her dedication to the Lord and led her walk in Christ "on the straight and narrow" path. She never met a stranger and welcomed all with genuine compassion and love. Her light and kindness was contagious. She is preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Jewitt Christian, her husband, Billie Joe Lankford, brothers Jewitt Jr. and Bobby, sister Nancy, two sons Kenneth and Ben Lankford and their wives, Vivian and Sandra. She leaves behind one daughter, Willa Ann Ballantyne, six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor 11:00 in the morning of Saturday, August 27th at Choctaw Beach United Methodist church 479 Live Oak St. Freeport, FL with Pastor Lew presiding.  A potluck will follow provided by the Choctaw Beach United Methodist Church congregation.
