Brenda Ferrell Obituary

Brenda Herring Ferrell, 75, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill surrounded by her family. Brenda was born in Wayne County on February 26, 1947 to the late Russell Lester Herring and Eloise Wiggs Herring. She married the late James Michael “Mike” Ferrell on April 10, 1964. Until her retirement, she worked for Corning Glass.

Surviving: daughter, Cindy Ferrell Lee and husband, Robert of Knightdale; son, James Michael “Mike” Ferrell of Knightdale; grandchildren: Ashley Lee Penny (Cameron), Michael “Taylor” Ferrell; sibling: Franklin “David” Herring; deceased siblings: Josephine Herring Parsons, Russell “Lester” Herring Jr., Frances “Marie” Bullard; a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God took you home. If tears could build a stairway, and heartaches make a lane, we’d walk our way to heaven, and bring you back again. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still, in our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill. You were a wonderful wife, mother and grandma “Ma”. We love you Ma.

Brenda’s children and grandchildren gathered for a private graveside ceremony on Saturday, September 24, 2022 to celebrate and remember the life of their beloved mother and grandmother. The family expresses their sincerest appreciation for all the cards, and the thoughts and prayers covering them over the past few weeks and they ask that you continue to remember them as their precious memories sustain them in Brenda’s absence.
