Levetta "Jean" Moseley Obituary

Levetta Jean Moseley (Jean), age 87, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, surrounded by her children. Jean was born December 25, 1936 in Thomas, Oklahoma. Jean was a life-long teacher of young children, primarily grades K-2, having taught 40 years.

Jean graduated in 1955 from Putnam High School. In 1959, Jean received her BS in Education at Southwestern State and in 1977 her MA in Arts at Bethany Nazarene College. Her life was spent in both Oklahoma and Colorado, teaching 20 years in each state. After retirement, Jean spent her last 26 years in Oklahoma City.

Jean was one of two children, Jean and Fred Linville, born to Owen and Lora Linville of Putnam, Oklahoma. Jean was married for 49 years to John Moseley who preceded her in death in 2008.

She is survived by two children, Jeff Moseley (Nashville, TN) and Jonel Moseley (Aurora, CO); and three grandchildren, Brette Moseley (Nashville, TN), Tre Moseley (Alexandria, VA) and Michael Moseley (Nashville, TN).

Jean dedicated her life to Christ by teaching young children and offering hospitality to all. She attended primarily West 10th Street Baptist Church (OK), University Hills Baptist Church (CO), and Council Road Baptist Church (OK). Jean loved to meet new people and sustained life-long friendships with many. She appreciated all of her close friendships throughout the years. Jean loved to be a host to friends and family and to meet and bring together those whose family may have been far away. In her later life, she was an avid Thunder basketball fan and could recite any player statistic and enjoyed watching the games with friends. Her door was always open, and she loved to share her chocolate chip cookies with anyone who came by for a visit.

Loved deeply, Jean will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 13, 2024, in the chapel at Council Road Baptist Church, 2900 N. Council Road, Bethany, OK under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. A private burial ceremony will be held at Thomas, OK following the service.
