MARGARET L. SCANLON, age 84, of Piqua, OH went home to be with the Lord Saturday July 6, 2024 at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Margaret was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 26,1939 to the late Byron and Helen (Cox) Scanlon.


Margaret is survived by son Scott T Shawler, Piqua, OH; daughter Julie Ann Green (Jon Wilson) Milford, OH; son Ken (Mary Pat) Shawler, Centerville, OH; six grandchildren Missy Shawler, Nick Shawler, Jordan Loop, Jack Shawler, Ryan Shawler, Kelly Shawler. She also had several great-grandchildren. Margaret was proceeded in death by one brother Mick Scanlon, one sister Teresa Hueser.


Margaret graduated from Piqua Catholic High School in 1957. She was a member of St. Boniface Church in Piqua, OH.


Margaret was an avid reader who loved genealogy. She especially loved being a grandmother. Margaret was a very independent hardworking woman.


She worked at container corporation in Piqua for 16 years and then she worked for Hammer Graphics in Piqua for 20 years.

A graveside service for Margaret will be held at a later date.


Arrangements are being handled by Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, Ohio.
