Deborah Ann Hunter Obituary

Deborah Ann Hunter of Caro, age 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at her home following a courageous second battle with cancer. Deb was born June 1, 1959 in Bad Axe, the daughter of the late William and Nora (Laughlin) Hunter. She grew up in Gagetown and graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1977. Deb briefly attended Ferris State University before starting her career as an auto inspector for General Motors at Saginaw Steering Gear where she worked for thirty years until retiring in 2011. Deb enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors relaxing to the sounds of oceans and lakes, and caring for the many furry friends she had through the years. In her younger years, she also loved traveling throughout Michigan. She was known to many as simply Hunter, and carried with her friends from all her stages of life including those from Gagetown, Cass City, Ferris State, Saginaw Steering Gear, and most recently the Caro Moose Lodge where she was a lifetime member. Deb’s infectious laugh will be missed by anyone lucky enough to have heard it.

Deb leaves to cherish her memory her partner in life, sister in the heart, and finally, caregiver, Sue Larson of Caro; sister, Fran (Lynn) Devore of Austin, Texas; brother, John (Janell) Hunter of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, cousins, countless friends including lifelong friend, Victoria Downing of Maryland; and furry boys, Leo and Toby. In addition to her parents, Deb was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Kay Hunter and brother, Paul Hunter. Deb’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. James Fugazzi, Heartland Hospice, State Street Pharmacy, and her devoted friends for the loving and compassionate care shown to her throughout her illness.

In keeping with Deb’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A “Celebration of Deb Party” will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Caro Moose Lodge. Burial will take place privately at St. Agatha Cemetery in Gagetown. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Caro Moose Lodge Scholarship Fund, Cass River Pet Friendz, or the family discretionary fund, c/o Sue Larson.
